So, what’s the story?
In the Spring of 2014, senior Frankie Viramontes, aka Pierre in French class, designed and built a portable chalkboard as a conversation space for Highland High School. Inspired by adaptations of Candy Chang’s “Before I die I want to…” Wall, he wanted to create something that would be a permanent part of his school. He left it to be painted by the incoming students in the Fall.
In August 2014, the Behemoth was used as the Conversation Space at the Conference featuring Candy Chang as keynote speaker. The cycle came full circle as he met the woman behind the creation of the “Before I die I want to…” Wall which was his inspiration for his project. Frankie has changed the world with his amazing “Behemoth.” Chalkboard shift school culture by giving all students a place to share their ideas.
