At this hands-on, action-packed workshop, you will learn 3 simple, yet powerful, School Culture-Builders focusing on: Relationships (Kindness Clubs), Student Voice (DREAM Walls), and Gratitude (1,000 Thank Yous as seen on TEDxABQ).

These 3 Surprising Tools will give you what you need to help students overcome the obstacles in school, including poverty, health and well-being, to boost effort and engagement.

Melinda Forward is a National Board Certified Teacher with 27 years of experience teaching, presenting workshops, and developing curriculum. April 1, 2017 Melinda gave a TED talk on 1,000 Thank Yous and spread the idea of gratitude as a radical tool for change in schools.

In this workshop, she teaches leaders simple, yet powerful, strategies and techniques she developed while working with students in Title I schools. She will share invaluable project guides and step-by-step instructions to empower their students as leaders in social change in their schools, using kindness as a tool. Learn from an educator in action! Melinda will connect you with local civic projects to connect your students with community members in action.

KAT 101 Workshop

Albuquerque, NM October 26 - 27 Detroit, MI November 15 - 16 Kindness Ambassador Team - 101 Workshop - Let's get kindness going! In just two days, students will develop a strong Kindness Ambassador Team, excited and prepared to transform school culture with special campus challenges & campaigns. KATs learn how to use kindness as a radical tool for change. The workshop is led by Melinda Forward, National Board Certified Teacher, TEDx Alumni, Trainer, and Founder of Kindness Club International. Melinda will share her expertise as a School-culture Turnaround Specialist and teach KATs HOW to create new opportunities for everyone to engage in new conversations on campus that inspire relationships and build community. Teams will learn strategies to reflect on their own personal strengths, weaknesses, and dreams so they understand who they are as leaders. All KATs are leaders from the moment they register for the workshop. Each KAT will receive a special guide: 5 Secrets to Inspiring Service Learning to read immediately upon registration. Step 2 in the workshop is going beyond personal reflection, KATs will join forces to evaluate their own school culture and issues that need to be addresses. They will develop a 60-day campaign plan with projects designed to transform their school culture by giving everyone at school a new opportunity to engage in a conversation about meaningful issues like: self-advocacy, mental health, physical/emotional well-being, safe relationships, stress/anxiety/depression, suicide prevention, lack of engagement, and more.
