Inspirational Graffiti, aka Sidewalk Talk is a project in which students speak out and share their encouraging and thought-provoking ideas on the sidewalks around campus.

Sometimes in chalk and other times in paint, the intention is for student to “make their inspirational mark” on campus to share with others.  Students learn the value of encouragement.

4 Super Simple Steps to INSPIRE your community

  1. THINK of an inspirational quote or CREATE one.
  2. FIND a special place on campus to WRITE or PAINT your quote. Get permission to write or paint there.
  3. GATHER supplies: chalk or paint and brushes.
  4. SHARE your message and INSPIRE others! Voilà!

Watch school climate change in response to your positivity, optimism and inspiration.

***TEACHERS: Want to make this a lesson for your class?

Have your students submit a letter  explaining what they want to write, where they want to write it, and explain their thoughts.  In addition, have them draw a picture of what they think of the sidewalks now and what they think it will be like when they have added their “Sidewalk Talk”.

Here is an example of a high school Sidewalk Talkin’: Albuquerque Public Schools put out a great message on Instagram about the project.
